Ned Gonet to retire as Ravenscroft athletic director

After more than four decades at Ravenscroft School, athletic director Ned Gonet has announced his retirement.

Gonet will retire from his role as the athletic director following the end of the 2025-2026 school year, which will be his 45th year at Ravenscroft.

The school announced Gonet’s retirement on its website.

During his tenure as athletic director, Ravenscroft won 51 team state championships in the N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association.

In addition to serving as the athletic director, Gonet has coached football, girls basketball, and baseball at Ravenscroft. His teams won five state titles in football and two state titles in girls basketball.

Gonet became a Certified Master Athletic Administrator in 20024, has coached in the Shrine Bowl of North Carolina, and received the Chuck Carter Athletic Directors Achievement Award in 2015.

Ravenscroft says a national search will begin for Gonet’s replacement.
