The N.C. High School Athletic Association recognizes individual athletes who have GPAs of 3.5 or higher in their semester of competition, but the association also recognizes the best unweighted team GPAs.

Teams that have an unweighted GPA of 3.1 or higher for the semester of competition are recognized by the NCHSAA.

In partnership with the Governor’s Highway Safety Program, teams with the highest GPA in each sport receive a cash award.
