Franklin Academy women were dominant in the 1A Women’s Cross Country Team Championship, as they pushed to a 47-75 victory over Voyager Academy, winning the school’s third consecutive Women’s Cross Country Team Championship. North Stokes saw junior Abigail Hemric roll to the school’s first individual State Championship in Women’s Cross Country. Hemric cruised to the victory, crossing the line in 19:34.34, well ahead of second place Amy Rosie Scott-Benson from Voyager Academy. Scott-Benson finished in 19:50.41. Franklin Academy was led by senior Caitlyn Burkett who finished in fourth overall, third in the team competition, as she posted a time of 20:06.21. CiaCia Kishpaugh, a freshman for Franklin Academy, crossed in seventh overall with a time of 20:13.36, just ahead of teammate Taylor Roberts who finished eighth overall in 20:35.31.
