Myers Park earned its third NCHSAA 4A Women’s Dual Team Tennis Championship on Saturday with a 5-4 win against New Hanover. Teagan Reilly, who was named MVP, won her singles match 6-4, 6-2 to set the tone and teammates Anne Mason Moor (7-5, 6-2), Agnes Shinn (6-3, 6-4) and Finley Holzman (7-5, 2-6 [10-8] followed suit to give the Mustangs a 4-2 lead going into the doubles portion of the contest. Moore and Shinn teamed up to win their doubles match 8-5 to seal the win. For New Hanover, Ellie Harmon and Caroline Morrison won their singles matches and the doubles teams of Sophia Catino/Hanna Davis and Harmon/Elizabeth Sifly picked up wins as well. Myers Park finished the season 21-0 while New Hanover ended up 25-1. The NCHSAA is committed to recognizing outstanding sportsmanship in each of our State Championship events. The Association has partnered with the North Carolina Farm Bureau to award a pair of Sportsmanship Awards at each championship event, recognizing players who have demonstrated the ideals of outstanding character and sportsmanship throughout the 2023 season.
